Pet Application

Pet Application for Rental Properties

Wishing to keep a pet at your rental property? Under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Victoria), tenants have the right to request permission to keep a pet. Rossignoli Real Estate will process your application promptly and fairly on behalf of your landlord.

How to Apply

To request approval to keep a pet at your rental property, you will need to submit a written pet application. Your application should include:

  • Your name and rental property address
  • Type, breed, age, and name of the pet
  • Details of where the pet will be kept (indoors, outdoors, or both)
  • Any relevant information about the pet’s temperament or training
  • Your contact phone number and email address

What Happens Next

Once we receive your application, we will forward it to the property owner for consideration. Under Victorian law, a landlord must respond within 14 days. If a landlord wishes to refuse a pet, they must apply to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) for an order to do so.

Keeping Pets Responsibly

If your pet application is approved, you are responsible for ensuring your pet does not cause damage to the property. Any damage caused by a pet beyond normal wear and tear may be claimed against your bond at the end of your tenancy.
