Vacate Notice

How to Vacate Your Rental Property

If you are a tenant and wish to vacate your rental property, you are required to provide written notice to Rossignoli Real Estate in accordance with the terms of your tenancy agreement and the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Victoria).

Notice Periods

The required notice period depends on your tenancy type:

  • Month-to-month (periodic) tenancy: Minimum 28 days written notice
  • Fixed-term tenancy: You must give notice before the end date — check your lease agreement for specific terms
  • Family violence or safety reasons: Special provisions apply — contact our office for assistance

What to Include in Your Notice

Your written vacate notice must include your full name and rental property address, the date you intend to vacate, and your signature and the date of the notice.

Before You Leave

To ensure the return of your bond, please leave the property clean and in the same condition as when you moved in (allowing for fair wear and tear), have all carpets professionally cleaned if required under your lease, return all keys, remotes and access cards to our office, arrange a final inspection with your property manager, and provide a forwarding address for your bond refund.
